A composite filling is a tooth colored material that is used to restore a tooth that has been affected by decay, chipping, or fracture. The damaged portion of the tooth is removed and the filling material is bonded into place to restore the tooth to its original shape and function. Composites come in many colors to seamlessly match your individual tooth shade.
During bonding, composite is used to enhance your smile by changing your tooth shape, filling in gaps, and or changing the color of your teeth. As with fillings, cosmetic composite bonding may stain or wear and require replacement over time.
